So you’ve recognised that your boiler may be nearing retirement, but when is it time to take the plunge and get a new one? These are some key indicators that it is time:

Your Boiler Is Over 15 Years Old: Once it surpasses 15 years, it’s generally recommended to consider a replacement. Even if your boiler is still functioning, it likely lacks efficiency compared to newer models. After 15 years, critical components like heat exchangers can deteriorate, and repairs may no longer be cost-effective.

Frequent Repairs Needed: If your boiler requires frequent repairs and the issues persist despite servicing, it could be a red flag that a replacement is needed. Constant breakdowns and costly fixes on an ageing boiler often outweigh the price of installing a new one.

High Energy Bills: An inefficient, old boiler can substantially increase energy bills. Upgrading to a newer, more energy-efficient boiler will save you money over time.

Lack of Heating or Hot Water: Inadequate heating or hot water supply can indicate your boiler is no longer performing properly and should be replaced.

Rust Accumulation: Corrosion and accumulation of rust inside the boiler or on components like pipes can cause dangerous gas leaks, inadequate heating supply and decreased efficiency.

If your boiler is over 15 years old or exhibiting any of these warning signs, consider upgrading to a new one. Replacing an outdated model with a modern boiler will provide reliable heating, hot water and improved energy efficiency.
